We talk a lot about cultivating aloha ʻāina consciousness in our art, so we wanted to share with you some of those who have inspired the cultivation of our own consciousness. This past year, hauMANA (Student Movement for Aloha no ka ʻĀina), a pro-aloha ʻāina, pro-independence, student hui at UHM, put on a speaker series about Hawaiian Consciencism, inspired by the work of Kumu Kaleikoa Kaʻeo. Kumu Kaleikoa was the first speaker in the series, followed by Uncle Skippy Ioane and Dr. Linda Tuhiwai Smith. Check out these videos of their talks. We hope they will inspire you as they did us. | |
